WATCH: US Election Comedy Special becomes a Wake

US satirist and TV host Stephen Colbert had planned  Showtime Election Comedy Special which aired lived during the election.

However as the show ‘Who’s Going To Clean Up This Sh*t?’ progressed it became anything but funny as the news of the looming future came trickling in. While at the show the audience had no idea what was happening outside the studio until Colbert made an announcement.

Right now the election is too close to call and too terrifying to contemplate,” Colbert said. “This one is a nail-biter, and a passport-grabber.”

As they began to realise nightmare was becoming a harsh reality Colbert struggled to see the light in the situation. “I’m not sure if it’s a comedy show at this point. I think we’re in the middle of a documentary right now,” Colbert stated and when finding out he was nearing the 270 he admitted  “I can’t put a happy face on that, and that’s my job.”

“I feel as if I’m about to give birth to a baby that’s already dead,” said comedian Jena Friedman later in the show, noting. “No one is laughing. This is so sad and scary.” Added radio personality Charlamagne Tha God, “we’re fucked!”

Colbert found himself in the role of grief counsellor instead of funnyman. Here is how he signed off the show.
