The day helmets became compulsory in the GAA…

You could play hurling (Gaelic sport) in Ireland until very recently without having to wear a helmet.

Some were left with devastating injuries as a result. When the country’s top player turned up to promote a car dealership and couldn’t remember his line, not lines, the GAA knew something had to be done.
