Jay and Silent Bob strike back with virtual reality.
Kevin Smith created this stoner duo and they first appeared in his debut film Clerks. Smith had this duo appear throughout his movies after that including Chasing Amy and Dogma. They later went in to star in a film of their own, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back where they take their comic book Bluntman and Chronic to Hollywood.
After a recent health scare, Smith has announced he is working on a new series where Jay and Silent Bob return to Hollywood. This live-action comedy is going to be a virtual reality series. Smith is writing and directing the film also.
It will launch on the Surreal channel, an app for VR headsets which will be available in mid-2018. The show will be shot from the point of view of Silent Bob, played by Smith, as he follows Jason Mewes’ Jay “through a string of idiotic adventures”.
Smith himself will direct, write and produce the series and will reunite with Jason Mewes for the show, though a release date is yet to be confirmed.
