Netflix Movie: Step Sisters

Stomp it like it’s hot.

This comedy was orginally set for release in Theatres this March but after Broad Green Pictures halted its production division Netflix landed the worldwide rights to Step Sisters.

Step Sisters is coming from Chuck Hayward who’s responsible for Dear White People. Jeffrey Soros, Simon Horsman, Ben Cory Jones, Lena Waithe and Matt Alvarez are producers.

The film revolves around ambitious sorority girl who has to teach the art of black Greek stepping to a white sorority.


Megalyn Echikunwoke stars in the film, and is joined by Dear White People stars Nia Jervier and Marque Richardson, Power’sNaturi Naughton, How to Get Away with Murder’s Matt McGorry, as well as  Eden Sher, Lyndon Smith, Gage Golightly and Alessandra Torresani.


“Much like he did with Drumline, Charles does an incredible job of bringing subcultures into the mainstream and we are excited to see him do the same thing with,” said Alvarez in a previous press statement.

Stone added, “I just skimmed the surface of black Greek life in ‘Drumline.’  gives me a chance to delve deep into the art of competitive stepping.”



Step Sisters comes to Netflix January 19.
