Dublin Podcast Festival 2018 26th September – 17th October

To celebrate the next round of podcasts to this year’s festival, we are releasing the final 50 tickets to Adam Buxton’s sold out show at Vicar Street on 3rd October this Thursday at 10AM. Get them fast podcast lovers!

Check out your favourite podcasts or discover some brand new favourites – and not a pair of headphones in sight!

Back by popular demand, the festival will feature an incredible line-up of international and homegrown podcasters, covering everything from food to music to literature to film, comedy, Irish history and lots more.

Kicking off this round of announcements is one of the galz! Brought to you by Jenny Claffey and Lindsay Hamilton it’s the It Galz Podcast at The Tivoli Theatre, Saturday 29th September. These ladies give their personal takes on a variety of topics from pop culture to women’s issues, through their often comedic and sometimes satirical lens.

Expect a wicked double headliner down at The Soundhouse, 30th September with Juvenalia and The Sunday Sermon.  Juvenalia is a smart, fun, nostalgia podcast where an interesting person picks a piece of pop culture that they were obsessed with as a child and then talks about it with Alan Maguire, Ellen Tannam, and Sarah Maria Griffin.

The Pod Skwod hosted by Adam Lynch and Matt McGuirk – has been a firm favourite amongst listeners since it began in 2015. Every week they delve into some of the weird and strange news from around the internet, as well as looking back at big events in history, and the news that was lost around them.

With raving reviews from The Times, The Telegraph and Evening Standard – The Bugle will host a live event at The Sugar Club8th October.  Andy Zaltzman (writer and presenter of the hit satirical podcast) is a stand-up comedian, broadcaster and author, who has firmly established himself in the vanguard of British comedy with his unique brand of political satire.

Movie lovers listen up! Comedy weirdos Dreamgun amuse and exasperate cinephiles in equal measure with their skewed, joke-stuffed and wholly unrehearsed takes on established cinematic favourites.  This will take place in The Workman’s Club8th October.  Dreamgun Film Reads returns for their first episode of Series Two, bringing a Film Read of The Matrix to the Dublin Podcast Festival.

Previously announced Motherfoclóir is now joined by The Irish History Podcast is what promises to be a fascinating double headliner show at The Sugar ClubWednesday 10th October.  With intriguing facts and conversations this October the podcasters will discuss “Our Cannibal Ancestors; Stories of Survival from the Great Famine”.

#49 | And Off With She – Tara Flynn & Peig Sayers

Moving onto music, NO ENCORE returns for the second year running, this time it will feature in The Workman’s Club on 14th October. A winning cocktail of irreverent humour, incisive analysis and incendiary opinion has seen NO ENCORE cement a position at the heart of the Irish music scene. Hosted by Dave Hanratty, Colm O’Regan and Craig Fitzpatrick, the weekly show is regarded as required listening for any self-respecting music fan – and NO ENCORE LIVE III will be equally unmissable.

Don’t be shy storytellers! The Dublin StorySlam is in town at The Sugar Club on 17th October hosted by Comedian & Award-Winning Broadcaster Colm O’Regan. The Dublin StorySlam (formerly The Moth StorySLAM) is an open mic storytelling night & Podcast. Inviting people to pop your name into a hat and if picked, get up and share your own personal true stories inspired by a monthly theme, lasting between 4-7 minutes.  This October’s theme is fear.

The rise of the podcast as a form of both entertainment and education has been phenomenal.  Join us at the Dublin Podcast Festival for the second year running as we celebrate the podcasting world and connect fans with the people who make them.
