Rosie O’Donnell had a lot to say about new US President Donald Trump 10 years ago. Now she is starring in SMILF – a new comedy pilot for Showtime.
It is written and directed by Frankie Shaw and based on her first film which won the Short Film Jury Award at Sundance Film Festival last year. The autobiographical plot is based in Boston where Shaw plays Bridgette, a young single mother who yearns for relationships, sex and a career.
At the moment Showcase are putting together the cast for the show and the good news is that Rosie O’Donnell will be a regular character and take on the role of Bridgette’s mother. This will be O’Donnell’s first TV appearance since she left The View at the start of 2015. She will also soon appear in a new mini series for ABC called ‘When we rise’ about gay rights.
