What happened to the TV version of Donald Trump’s best selling book The Art of the Deal? Well here it is … in parody / satire form.
It’s an all star team with producers Funny or Die plus Oscar winning director Ron Howard as himself and actor Johnny Depp playing Trump. Other cameos feature Ricky Gervais’s sidekick Stephen Merchant, Henry Winkler (the Fonz) and Christopher Lloyd (Taxi, Back the Future).
Howard introduces the film by saying that he has discovered a long-lost ‘movie of the week’ based on Trump’s book The Art of The Deal that was written, directed by and stars Trump himself. The film starts in 1986, where a young boy stumbles into Donald Trump’s office holding a copy of the book. Trump is not slow to hype up his background and personal history in order to ‘educate’ the young boy. The movie is broken into chapters with running stories throughout including Trump trying buy The Taj Mahal in Vegas.
Chapter 1: The Art of Intimidating Rent Controlled Tenants
Chapter 2: The Art of Defeating Totally Bogus Discrimination Lawsuits
Chapter 3: The Art of Suing Those Losers at the NFL
Chapter 4: The Art of Buying a Casino from the Hilton Family
Chapter 5: The Art of Marrying a Gorgeous Immigrant
The final Chapter 6: The Art of Building the Trump Tower
In a post credits scene Ron Howard says that ‘the film was so bad he is imploring the audience to forget the film or that Donald Trump ever existed’.
Fyi Perfect for the long train or bus commute! Or a lazy weekend. It is over 40 mins long so give it the time. It’s worth it!
