For any best men preparing their speeches, the bar has been set very high.
23-year-old Offaly man, Podge Henry gave an epic speech for his older brother Paul’s wedding. Paul and Sinead got married in Westmeath in December.
Podge, as the best man was given the task of the important best man speech. He starts his speech like any other, teasing his brother, heartfelt stories and jokes but then he said “I don’t think enough people know that you’re getting married.”
Podge then played a video to the crowd following his quest to tell the world that Sinead and Paul were getting married. Watch below:
My best man speech for my brothers wedding earlier this month. I want to thank everyone who helped make the video and got involved. It would not have been as special as it was without you all. From the bottom of my heart it meant the world.
Podge told the IrishMirror: “The whole film and editing process took three weeks to do, I was up until 7am the night before the wedding still finishing it off.
“However, I had it in my head for over four months of what I was going to do and, like all ideas, it manifested into something a little different to what I first imagined.”
“It was pretty much the exact same concept from day one.”
Podge said: “The reaction was amazing, I was so happy to see how much everyone enjoyed it.
“When I came back into the room at the end I could see a good few tears, cheers and all smiles which was great because it meant it was received the exact way I meant it to be.
“I wanted to have humour but also be really meaningful cause at the end of the day, the wedding itself is one of their most important days together.
“I was a little worried it would have gone on too long but thankfully no one has said that to me… yet.”
“I didn’t put it up initially but then loads wanted to see it so I said, ‘sure’, and threw it up.
“It got a lot of views from people at home at first and then that seemed to be it until it was on one or two sites and then it took off which was mad.
“I think we all just find it kind of funny and mad how many have seen it but delighted that so many like it too.
“I just hope that what people take from it is that you don’t always have to do things the same way as everyone else and just once you give it 110% it shouldn’t matter.”
