TV NEWS: MTV’s Special 90’s CULT TV channel launches August 1st

We Irish took to MTV in droves when it launched 35 year ago. Now to celebrate its 35th anniversary  MTV will be re-launching some of its most-loved shows with brand new channel MTV Classic. The new channel is launched on Monday August 1 2016 and will replace VH1 Classic.

While its first hour of broadcasting will that of 1981 for the launch, MTV will then be dedicating the most-part of its new addition to the 1990s. In the introductory trailer, shared by Rolling Stone, it’s revealed that music will also have a place on the channel with the revival of MTV Unplugged – classic editions like Nirvana, Bob Dylan or Erykah Badu will be replayed.

Most exciting of all, we’ll be treated to reruns of MTV’s biggest cult and mostly comedy shows including Daria, Beavis and Butt-Head and Æon Flux.

The return of Punk’d, CribsJackass and Pimp My Ride has also been promised while weekends will be dedicated to “binge-worthy marathons” of trash TV like Real World and Laguna Beach.
