Scotland’s internet cult hero and comedy television star Limmy makes his Dublin debut at Vicar St on 18 May 2017.
Join Limmy for a night of storytelling and chit chat as he introduces his second book, That’s Your Lot, featuring stories that are dafter and darker than before. The night includes an audience Q&A and book signing.
Brian ‘Limmy’ Limond is truly an online institution for fans of absurdist Vine clips, bizarre “thinking out loud” tweets, candid webcams and contorted selfies. With a quarter of a million Twitter followers Limmy can command an instant audience for his provocative humour. Originally garnering infamy for his daily podcast Limmy’s World of Glasgow, he found wider success with his BBC comedy series Limmy’s Show, which has earned him a Scottish BAFTA.
Scottish culture magazine The List listed Limmy at number 14 in their Hot 100 list of 2006, which celebrated the people who made the biggest impact on cultural life in Scotland over that year. Throughout the years he has performed infrequent live comedy shows and made cameo character appearances such as the unintelligible Glaswegian window-cleaner in one episode of the IT Crowd, or his regular guest spot on Charlie Brooker’s news satire show News Wipe.
In 2015 Limmy wrote his first book titled Daft Wee Stories, published by Random House, and in January 2016 he performed four nights at the Clyde Auditorium, adapting material from this TV shows to become Limmy Live! He is widely applauded for his fearlessly candid comedy that tackles a broad range of issues from mental health to politics.
