PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS TALENT CALL OUT IS NOW CLOSED. ALL APPLICATIONS FOR THESE PAID POSITIONS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED AND WILL BE RESPONDED TO NEXT WEEK. POTENTIAL GRINTAGERS WILL BE INVITED TO MEET UP.
WE WERE PLEASANTLY SURPRISED BY THE REACTION & THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO SHOWED AN INTEREST
Grintageireland.com only started up in November 2015 and we are still finding our feet – never mind our voice! But even after baby steps the feeling and feedback is that we are making strides. Fancy stepping out with us?
Now Grintageireland is keen to discover and develop new writing and production talent. We now have openings for a couple of hard working people who know the difference between Mr. Ed and Fr. Ted; The Producers and The Inbetweeners; Script Editor and Script Writer; Rule of 3 and a one liner; Satire and Irony; Milligan and Tiernan. You are serious about comedy and appreciate both the creative power and commercial appeal of COMEDY right across the world of entertainment. The Web. Literature. Radio. Shorts, TV. Film. Theatre. Stand Up. Music. Relationships. Going out. Staying in. Having & sharing a laugh.
So comedy is part of your DNA. A sense of humour is a given.
You must have ideas, opinions and an experience of comedy beyond your ears. Maybe you are already in a media position but with very little social. We prefer a breath of fresh air. We are flexible on working location but we do have an office with seats, desks and WiFi. The water, coffee and tea is free. Don’t bet on a pool table or bean bags.
We expect you be an individual yet a generous team player willing to work within a tight crew complimenting the varied skill set and experience already on board – even though we are only ‘live’ 2 months. Already the feedback has been greatly supportive – and appreciated – and if we get the right people on board there is a fantastic opportunity to grow grintage into wider areas including training; live events; Grintagency and developing / producing new talent for TV / Film. Already we are working with RTE Radio 1 and the BAI on Ireland’s first ever radio festival Comedy Showhouse . The one rule in here is be ambitious. So if you know somebody who knows somebody who maybe a potential ‘Grintager’ – let ’em know we are hiring.
Below a brief for each position but happy for you to pitch us back with a fresh and unique view.
- Editorial – you are an efficient and focused writer / journalist with a nose for breaking news and engaging readers – you have experience of writing popular copy and clever headlines that attract and engage. No need to blah blah what we are looking for. Have a tour of grintageireland.com and write back to us what you like, what you feel we are missing and who you feel we should be aiming at. You may be an aspiring stand-up who loves writing and the business of comedy more than an audience loves you. We are open to being convinced by a new talent out of college who has a mature passion for comedy across all platforms – plus understand that an Irish comedy channel promoting original voices and talents is worth fighting for. The last person we need is a frustrated comedy writer who has one view of what comedy is. Think ‘music’ so you have respect and a curiousity about successful performers, genres and styles.
If you are interested please send on a relevant biog; published samples (if any) of previous work plus a draft article / feature with 5 more original ideas you feel would work on grintageireland.com
- Broadcast Producer – you must have a good nose for what will work visually and tonally. Is Radio & TV also on your radar? Note – we are not seeking ‘film makers’. Don’t even think about it. Stop now. Our best work could be viewed on a very small screen. But maybe you have a keen eye and produced a comedy short for RTE’s Storyland or IFB and so got bitten by the comedy bug? Or worked in a digital or advertising agency so appreciate the written word and spot the growth of comedy in online broadcasting / native advertising ? You may well be a one person industry who can record / shoot, direct and edit? Having a showreel plus a past / present relationship with comedy talent a plus. We have in-house edit facilities (Avid & FCP) plus cameras / lights if required plus access to a wide range of writing and performing talent. If you are a self shooting starter with DIY home edit facilities (laptop even) let’s explore all possibilities. A good ear for dialogue and eye for visual comedy plus the ability to spot new talent – writers and performers – should be in your CV somewhere. A track record in producing podcasts or videos for the web a major plus but we will take a punt if we feel you are the right person.
Oh – a hard work ethic and an honest ability to embrace diversity is necessary. For both positions. And again for either job it would help if you include a one / two pager on why comedy? why grintage? and if you are in the mood some crystal ball gazing where you feel grintageireland.com (and yourself) could be in a few years.
Please send your biog and any additional material plus relevant links to firstname.lastname@example.org
Closing date is Friday 15/01/16 and all applications will be acknowledged and appreciated.
