IT’S THAT TIME OF THE YEAR WHEN IRISH COMEDY DESCENDS ON THE EDINBURGH FRINGE.
Most of the acts that are performing for the month of August start their run on August 4th or 5th and run through to the 28th or 29th. Some pack out large halls for a £10 ticket – others are more comfortable in smaller rooms for £5 or £7 charge. A small few find it hard to attract punters into back rooms or damp pop up spaces for no charge. Some of them provide the biggest surprises!
Mostly the Irish – even debutants – have always done well at the Fringe (the biggest event of its type in the world) and the standard on show has usually not disappointed.
Below is what we can see are the star Irish attractions you should go and see.
We are not going attach individual links but just go to edfringe.com and just type in the name of the show or the act. All the booking details with dates, times, cost, venue address and number will pop up.
Or you can pick up the phone and call 0044 131 226 0000 – again have the acts, dates and times ready to save time.
So in alphabetical order and as they appear in the Free Fringe Programme here are the Irish acts performing IN THEIR OWN SHOW at The Fringe.
Colum Tyrell (NY Based)
Foil Arms & Hog – extra late night shows every Fri & Sat
Further Ted – with Michael Redmond, Joe Rooney and Patrick McDonnell
Apologies if we missed a genuine performance or show produced by an Irish talent and remember these purely taken from the COMEDY programme – and sorry we could not endorse the various Best of Irish type shows as we have no idea who is on.
Best of luck to all regardless and we here in grintage have a feeling there will be an award or two on the plane home at the end of the month.
