Derry Girls Win The Battle For The Radio Times Comedy Champion Title

The Channel 4 comedy had made it all the way Radio Times Comedy Champion 2018 Final but they had to fight till the end.

Derry Girls premiered in January with only six episodes but it has still managed to make an incredible impact on the comedy scene. After the release of Lisa McGee’s comedy around the troubles in Northern Ireland, it became an instant hit.

While in the Radio Times final they came head to head with Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton’s Inside No 9. After over one million votes the poll closed 10pm Tuesday July 31. The votes were 50/50 all the way through and before the final result, Steve Pemberton suggested they call it a draw. Derry Girls creator Lisa McGeecouldn’tt agree more.

The final result was 50.1% to 49.9% to Derry Girls.

One they were crowned champions the  Derry Girls cast took to Twitter to celebrate the news and thank fans for their support.
