Our favourite Irish TV comedy couple Bridget & Eamon have now landed on Amazon in America.
The original six episode series written by Jason Butler, Jennifer Zamparelli and Bernard O’Shea (latter pair also play the lead characters) was commissioned and broadcast on Irish channel RTE Two (grintage article here) and later bought by British channel UKTV.
The show started off as a comedy sketch segment on RTE 2’s Republic of Telly but became so popular that it was commissioned into its own hilarious series. The show is set in the 1980s and is set around married couple, woeful Eamon and his Woman’s Way wife Bridget.
The cast also features Norma Sheahan, Eleanor Tiernan and Sharon Mannion as the Bridget’s neighbours; Colum McDonnell as Eamon’s mate Fierce Handy Frank and Edwin Sammon as the local parish priest. Both Eleanor Tiernan and Colum McDonnell will feature in the forthcoming RTE Radio 1 Comedy Showhouse live at The Project Arts Centre May 29th to June 3rd.
