Avril Lavigne Was Replaced By A Clone 12 Years Ago

It’s the 15th anniversary of the release of Avril Lavigne’s hit single Complicated.

To celebrate this her fans have come up with a conspiracy theory. It originated on a Brazilian fanpage back in 2005 and has been floating around the internet since.

According to the theory when Lavigne became famous she struggled with it and hired a body double called Melissa. Then in 2003 the real Lavigne is said to have died, taking her life after her grandfather’s death. The record company didn’t want to miss out on their money so decided to hire Melissa to replace Avril full time.

To back up this theory evidence includes Avril’s shots on the red carpet. Lavigne wears trousers; Melissa prefers dresses and skirts. Theorists also believe Melissa has left clues in songs, such as Slipped Away, in which she sings: “The day you slipped away was the day I found it won’t be the same”. There was even a publicity shot in which Lavigne had “Melissa” written on her hand.

One twitter user even raised doubts comparing her hand writing.
