The Vodafone Comedy Carnival has just ended in Galway but some things are just beginning for the Irish Comedian Of The Year.
Lisa Casey won the title last weekend at the Vodafone Comedy Carnival in Galway.
Along with that honour, the Dundalk comedian receives €2,000 and a trip to Australia where she will perform at various fringe festivals.
In one interview, she said: ‘It took a while to build up the courage [to start stand-up]. I have suffered for many years with anxiety and depression so it held me back somewhat. I’m still fighting it but doing what I love makes me stronger.’
In 2015 she entered the Budweiser dream job competition.
Runners-up were Danny Ryan, from Limerick, followed by Catherine Bohar.
Steve Bennett took the crown last year. Read more below.
