Free Comedy: Radio Sitcom Trials This Saturday

Top Irish comedy talent join the cast for the 1st ever Radio Sitcom Trials.

Some of Ireland’s best comedy actors take to the stage at The Project Arts Centre this
Saturday afternoon to perform in 3 new sitcoms.

SUE COLLINS (The Nualas, Dirtbirds, The Centre, Mattie, Roy); PADDY C. COURTNEY (IFTA winning Paddywhackery; My Name Is Yu Ming,  His Father's Son, Lean On Me); HANNAH MAMALIS (Republic of Telly; Des Bishop’s This is Ireland, Ripper Street, The Drummer and the Keeper) and the members of comedy trio SHIFTS (Eoin Roynane, Colm Reid and Rob O’Hanrahan) all now star as various characters across the 3 scripts.

The 3 new sitcoms will be staged as part of COMEDY SHOWHOUSE at the Project Arts Centre
on Saturday May 5 th @ 2.30 pm.

The three winning writers and their radio sitcoms are –

RISING SON by ROB O’HANRAHAN

SYNOPSIS – Over 15 years later, Chris looks back at the ‘eventful’ 2002 World Cup in Japan

IRISH MEN CAN’T DANCE by SINEAD FAGAN

SYNOPSIS – The romantic exploits of two single women who love men who can dance.

LEASE ON LIFE by JAMES CADDEN
SYNOPSIS – The home of a rowing couple is invaded by a ‘separated’ parent!

NOTE

THE RADIO SITCOM TRIALS is a brand new initiative designed by Sideline Productions to
promote new Irish comedy writing for radio. The innovative development phase also
included writer’s workshops and script editing modules before the final 3 scripts were
performed.
