Dublin’s Vodafone Comedy Festival Is Better Than Ever!

These years Vodafone Comedy Festival has everything a comedy fan could want!

VODAFONE Ireland and Aikens Promotions and just announced the lineup and it’s one of the biggest ones yet. It includes over 120 performers from homegrown Irish talent to some top international talent.

The festival will take place over four jam packed days from July 26 to 29th. It is set in the beautiful Iveagh Gardens.

Sponsorship manager for Vodafone Ireland, Gerry Nixon said: “We are thrilled to once again be involved with the Vodafone Comedy Festival, a highlight of the Vodafone Centre Stage comedy and entertainment programme and the summer events calendar for so many Irish people.

“The festival embodies what Centre Stage is all about, connecting people to the things that matter most – friends, fun and laughter.

“This year’s line-up leaves us spoiled for choice with so many opportunities to catch performances from familiar names, as well as new faces in the world of comedy.”

So what acts have been announced?

Everyone! This line up has small acts, big acts and everything in between.

Irish Acts

On the centre stage there some of the best known Irish men in comedy such as Tommy Tiernan, Abandoman, Jason Byrne, David O’Doherty, Neil Delamare, Barry Murphy and Bernard O’Shea. 

Along with the gentlemen we have some of our favourite funny Irish women including Alison Spittle, Enya Martin, Joanne McNally, Katherine Lynch, Tara Flynn, The Nualas and flying in from the UK Aisling Bea.

Now is your to see Irelands up and coming Irish comedians who have been doing the rounds of comedy clubs around the country and definitely making their mark. Danny O’Brien, Julie Jay, Aoife Dooley, Catherine Bohart, Davey Reilly, Ryan Cullen, Martin Angolo, Ashlee Bentley, Richie Bree, Aidan Greene and Hannah Mamalis.

Speaking of comedy clubs the festival will host The Comedy Crunch, Chaplains, The Workmans Comedy Club, Cherry Comedy, Dublin Improv Comedy, INN Jokes, The Comedy Cellar and The International Comedy Club.

See some faces you may recognise on your screens, live on stage. Some of the funniest Irish social media stars will be making an appearance over the 4 days. Farmer Michael & Kathleen, Shane Clifford, Emma Doran, Enya Martin of ‘Giz a laugh, Tony Cantwell, impressionist Al Foran and our favourite sketch group Foil, Arms & Hog.

International Acts

It’s not just Irish acts though. The line up includes acts from all over the world. Starting a bit closer to home the UK has offered us some impressive talent. Starting with Tom Allen, The Improv Allstars and Seann Walsh. From Scotland, Fern Brady, YouTube star Mawaan Rizwan and Lolly Adefope (Miracle Workers). Saturday night Rob Kemp puts on ‘The Elvis Dead’, an audio/visual mash-up show telling the story of Evil Dead 2 through the classic songs of Elvis Presley.

We can’t believe some of the acts that are travelling to Dublin from around the world. Michael Che from Saturday Night Live, Rhea Butcher (Take My Wife), Michael Kosta from The Daily Show. Also, those who have just recorded Netflix Stand Up specials: Sam Jay, Tim Dillon and Janelle James and Nicole Byer, who hosts Netflix baking show ‘Nailed It!

Tickets for Vodafone’s Comedy Festival will go on sale this Friday, June 15 and will be sold on a show by show basis with prices starting at €20.

Over 20,000 people are expected to attend this year’s festival and it is strictly an over 18s event.
