Is This The End Of Facts YouTube Channel?

With over 1.3 million subscribers Facts is one of  Ireland’s most popular Youtube Channels.

Facts. is an Irish brand based in Dublin, Ireland. On their website this is how they describe themselves:

We create short, entertaining videos for YouTube and Facebook with a focus on reacting to unusual foods, videos and situations. We’re best know for our group of Irish people, who have tried everything from waxing their nether regions to eating the worlds hottest chicken wings.

They are basically the BuzzFeed of Ireland. However, they have just announced on Twitter that they are ‘taking a break from creating new videos’.

This is surprising given how well their videos do compared to other Irish youtube channels.

This announcement followed a number of the stuff tweeting and uploading videos about being let go from the company.

In 2013 Creative Nation, a Dublin-based firm was set up by then 17-year-old Shane Corry. This company produced it’s own viral videos which went out on YouTube and Facebook accounts called Facts. As well as it’s previously mentioned 1,3 million YouTube subscribers it has more than 140,000 Facebook followers.

Corry confirmed to Fora that he is “in the process of selling Creative Nation”. It never turned a full-year profit and throughout the three years, it only had four profitable months.

He added that, as a result, the Facts wing of the business is sitting on cumulative losses of over €400,000 and it had become progressively harder to earn significant advertising revenue on YouTube.

“The channel’s revenue per 1,000 views is down over 30% from the same period last year, this is similar if not better than what other YouTube creators are seeing,” Corry told Fora.

“Unfortunately we don’t see it as a viable business for us to continue investing in at the current time.”

Irish YouTuber Clisare uploaded a video saying ‘I left Facts YouTube Channel, where I worked as a Video Producer (and later, their Head of Social Media) for two years.’ and chatted about her experience in the video below.

The man known as the ‘LeatherJacketGuy’ who was a contributor to the channel talks about the end of Facts.

Diane Jennings gives us her top 10 favourite Facts memories.

The Facts Channel will be sorely missed.
