The final episode of Don’t Quote Me! features two female panels. Is this the first panel show in Irish – or even UK – broadcasting where there are two all girl teams?
For the 6th and last episode of the series team captain Fiona Looney is joined by Dancing with Stars & Wagon’s Den star Katherine Lynch. The pair go up against rival team captain comedian Eleanor Tiernan and writer for Aisling Bea and Ch4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats Brona C. Titley.
DON’T QUOTE ME! is hosted by Sean Hughes (front below in pic – Perrier winner, BBC’s Buzzcocks, Ch4’s Sean’s Show) and special guest thoughout the final series was 2016 Best Irish Theatre Actor nominee Owen Roe as ‘the reader’. He is on the right! Show is very simple – both panels have to answer questions on quotes about ‘who said what, where and why‘… with a musical round or two (who sung what‘) thrown in for good pleasure. Whoever scores most wins. DQM was recorded as part of Comedy Showhouse for RTE Radio 1. Ireland’s 1st (world’s 1st?) comedy radio festival was produced by Sideline Productions and grintage.com supported by The Broadcast Authority of Ireland.
The festival also featured a special chat show FUNNY WOMEN (broadcast on RTE Radio 1 next week August 17th Thursday 10pm) featuring Katherine Lynch talking to Alison Spittle. Brona C. Titley and Stefanie Preissneir about their careers in comedy writing and production. And just to prove that gender balance is alive and well amongst the producers and RTE Radio 1, also watch out (keep an ear out?) for the all female sketch show WAITING (by Fiona Looney) starring Caitriona Ennis, Deirdre O’Kane and Rose Henderson. See live reaction here.
Tune into the final episode of DON’T QUOTE ME! on RTE Radio One Thursday August 10th at 10:30pm.
