You may have seen the pictures of a pretty scary Michael Jackson impersonation floating around the internet the last week.
This was a screen grab from new British comedy Urban Myths. The Sky Arts short dramatises the stories we’ve heart about various celebrities.
One episode in particular has caused outrage causing Sky to pull the episode. This episode starred Joseph Fiennes as Michael Jackson. It revolved around a road trip with Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando after the 9/11 attacks.
The trailer for the short was released this week and immediately received a huge amounts of complaints from the public and Jacksons daughter, Paris stating: “I’m so incredibly offended by it… as I’m sure plenty of people are as well, and it honestly makes me want to vomit.”
Back in 1993 Oprah Winfrey asked him how he would feel about being played by a white boy in a tv ad. He was visibly upset stating:
“It’s the most ridiculous, horrifying story I’ve ever heard.””Why would I want a white child to play me? I’m a black American. I’m proud to be a black American. I’m proud of my race. I’m proud of who I am.”
