La La Land Breaks Movie Records

If you’re going to see any film this year make it La La Land.

While the films might sound like some where in Tellytubby land it’s breaking records as far as winning awards goes. The film directed by Damien Chazelle (won Best Director) won an award for every category it was nominated in. It won the Golden Globe the Best Musical or Comedy. The film starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone also won the awards for Best Actor and Best Actress. Along with this impressive list it also won La La Land and Song. That’s 7 awards in total!

“This is a film for dreamers, and I think that hope and creativity are two of the most important things in the world, and that’s what this film is about,” Stone said while receiving her award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical. “And to any creative person that’s had a door slammed in their face… or anybody, anywhere, that feels like giving up sometimes, but finds it in themselves to get up and keep moving forward: I share this with you.”

We were hopeful with an impressive amount of Irish up for nominations including Colin Farrell, Sing Street, Ruth Negga and Catriona Balfe. Unfortunately none were successful in bringing an award home!

La La land is out in Irish Cinemas January 13th.
