Bill Murray has been honoured with the biggest US award there is for ‘Contribution to Comedy’ – The Mark Twain Prize for American Humour.
Among those paying tribute to the Irish / American funny man were Sigourney Weaver, David Letterman, Steve Martin and Emma Stone. After hearing all the nice things they had to say to him, Bill stated “It’s really hard to listen to all those people be nice to you for two days. You just get real suspicious.”
He put his success down to the love he has received from his family and friends. “There’s love, that’s what we came with, that’s what we go with. I love you, let’s try to repeat that to each other,” Specifically his brother “My brother had more guts than anyone I ever knew, and the only reason I’m here tonight is because of the guts of my brother Brian. He’s been waiting a long time to hear that.”
Bill received the award last week at the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
