Peter Foott’s comedy movie The Young Offenders will be released world-wide after the successful negotiation of a multi-territory deal.
Vertigo Releasing has just signed on to distribute the film in Australia/New Zealand, US and Canada and the UK.
Ed Caffrey of Vertigo Releasing said: “The Young Offenders is one of the funniest and freshest films we’ve seen in years and we’re thrilled to be working with Peter to bring the film to a UK and international audience.”
Director Foott replied – “The cast, crew and myself are delighted! Having our film reach such a huge audience is incredible and we are so happy it’s Vertigo who are taking us on this journey.”
However that’s not the only news for the Cork based cocaine movie! Foott has just announced that he is planning to turn the hit movie into a TV show.
“We want to keep it in the world that we have, and that’s why we like the idea of doing a big budget TV show,” he told RTÉ Entertainment. “The current idea is it picks up where the film leaves off. I’ve got different outlines for it. We want to do it off the back off the Irish success and that’s basically why it’s all happening so quickly.”
The film has earned €1 m in the Irish box office since it’s release in September and received the Special Mention for Best Comedy Debut where is premiered at the Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas.
