GALWAY – Irish Comedian of the Year 2016

Galway’s Vodafone Comedy Carnival runs for 7 days from Tues Oct 25th to Mon Oct 31st. 

While this is your chance to see the likes of Jason Byrne, Tommy Tiernan and Al Porter perform live you can also take this opportunity to become a comedian yourself.

Scotland, England and Wales have one and despite Ireland, for the size of the population, producing more world class comedians than almost anywhere in the world has never had an Irish Comedian of The Year Competition. Until now. The heats are being held all over in Dublin, Belfast, Cork and even London. The Róisín Dubh Comedy Clubh will be be hosting the West of Ireland Heats over the next 2 Fridays and then the semi- final will take place on September 30th.

By the time it comes to Galway the competition will have been knocked from 200 down to 10 contestants. These funny people will compete in the grand finale in the Town Hall Theatre on Thursday October 27th.  Not only will the winner get to claim the title of Irish Comedian of the Year 2016 but they will also receive €2000 and be sent to Australia where they will tour around the Australian comedy festivals.

The final event ishosted by stalwart of the International Comedy Club in Dublin Mr. Andrew Stanley.
