Grintage has reported on Comedy Central’s ‘Roast’ when Donald Trump was the target of abuse. Tonight (Sept 5th) the insults were aimed at actor Rob Lowe. But another got caught in the X fire.
To be expected, Lowe’s acting got the brunt of a lot of the jokes – our favorite –
“Rob Lowe – the only thing you are consistently on is Twitter, which is surprising because you have never been able to master one character, let alone 140.”
Nikki Glaser hit him hard about the sex tape he was in when he was 16
“I had such a crush on Rob as a little girl. If only I knew that’s when I would have had my best shot,”
Followed by singer Jewel taking to the stage with her guitar and pretended she was the unidentified 16-year-old in the tape.
“I’m the best thing Rob Lowe was ever in,” she sang
However the tables turned as one of the roasters Ann Coulter ended up not intentionally stealing the limelight. The roasters seemed to forget about Rob and take the opportunity to vent at Coulter
“If you are here, Ann, who is scaring the crows away from our crops?” — Pete Davidson of “SNL”
“Ann, you’re awful. The only person you will ever make happy is the Mexican who digs your grave.” — Comedian Nikki Glaser
“I do want to say as a feminist that I can’t support everything that’s been said tonight. But as someone who hates Ann Coulter, I’m delighted.” — Singer/songwriter Jewel
“I just realized that I’m not the only athlete up here tonight. As you all know, earlier this year Ann Coulter won the Kentucky Derby.” — Former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning
“Ann Coulter wants to help Trump make America great again. You can start by wearing a burka.” — Comedian Jeff Ross
“She seems stiff and conservative, but Ann gets wild in the sheets. Just ask the Klan.” “It looks like she’s having a good time. I haven’t seen her laugh this hard since Trayvon Martin got shot.” — Comedian David Spade
“Ann is one of the most repugnant, hateful, hatchet-face bitches alive. It’s not too late to change, Ann. You could kill yourself.” – Jimmy Carr:
People were confused when Coulter was announced as one of the guest roasters as there is no obvious connections between the two. When questioned about this she didn’t try very hard to hide her true intentions –
“I’m only here for all the love and respect I have for Rob Lowe and all of the talented performers tonight. It has nothing to do with the book I published four days ago”
After the nights events Rob Lowe was a bit shaken but had been prepared “If you’re in the NFL, hit hard. This is the NFL, you’re here to hit. There are other places to do soft jokes … if you’re on the Comedy Central Roast, you better bring your A-game.”
Here’s is Rob on the set of Parks and Recreation where he plays the positive, health freak Chris Traeger.
The Roast of Rob Lowe premieres Monday, September 5, on Comedy Central.
