The first ever Cork Comedy Festival takes place from Thursday 22nd to Sunday 25th of September.
The festival has been developed by former Chief Executive of Kilkenny Cat Laughs, Jane Russell who has also previously worked at the Edinburgh Fringe, Kilkenomics, Dublin Fringe and Kilkenny Arts Festival. Fingers crossed for a huge success and an annual event in the calendar! Jason Byrne, Kevin McAleer, Bernard O’Shea, Barry Murphy, Heidi O’Loughlin; Eleanor Tiernan, Sean Hughes, Deirdre O’Kane and Neil Delamere are all confirmed. A wee teaser promo is a click away.
Dermot Whelan and Dave Moore from Today Fm have already sold out their show. We are not sure what to expect but they are quickly becoming Ireland’s favourite radio duo.
Limited tickets are now available for Foil, Arms and Hogs ‘DoomDah’, Chris Kent and The Big (Opera) House Party. This is the opening gala with MC Neil Delamere hosting the cream of Irish comedy on the Opera House stage. A stellar line up includes Eleanor Tiernan, Karl Spain, Colin Murphy and Deirdre O’Kane.
The Cork Comedy Fest will be staged at top venues such as the Roundy, Cork Opera House, The Imperial Hotel and The Everyman.
We’ll leave the last word with Jane Russell – “Cork has a very active comedy scene and lots of discerning fans. Corkonians love having the craic and enjoy a good night out, and comics love playing here. The ambition is to establish the shape of the festival in 2016 but ultimately to develop it into an annual fixture in the Irish entertainment calendar. For right now though, I’m already looking forward to a great weekend of world-class comedy in September.”
