In this entertaining journey through Irish TV and radio satire Paddy is joined by writer / actress TARA FLYNN, blogger / writer JOHN MOYNES, comedian JOHN COLLEARY (Pictorial Weekly) & finally the legendary SEAN HARDIE – ex BBC producer/director / writer TV (Not The 9 O’Clock News, Spitting Image, Bremner Bird and Fortune). Tune in and enjoy a whirlwind mix of banter, debate and anecdotes – with timely clips of classic satire packed into a hugely entertaining half hour.

Our host? Ireland’s premiere satire expert Paddy Cullivan is a writer and performer on RTÉ’s Callan’s Kicks and leader of The Camembert Quartet, The Late Late Show‘s house band. In this RTE Radio 1 special recorded in front of a live audience, Paddy and special guests look back at Irish satire through the years – from Hall’s Pictorial Weekly to Scrap Saturday, Callan’s Kicks to Bull Island, Pictorial Weekly to The Savage Eye, incorporating both chat and seated performance.
Comedy Showhouse is RTE Radio 1’s first ever radio comedy festival and produced by Sideline Productions in association with The Broadcast Authority of Ireland and Grintage Ireland. The shows were recorded live at The Project Arts Theatre in Dublin.
RTE Radio 1’s Comedy Hour featuring 12 half hour original shows recorded for Comedy Showhouse starts on Friday August 27th at 6pm. This series includes the hit panel show Don’t Quote Me! with host Sean Hughes with resident panelists Al Porter, Karl Spain, Andrew Maxwell, Fiona Looney plus special guests Dave Fanning, Diarmaid Ferriter, Joe Rooney, Colm O’Regan and more.
