Next Monday Colm O’Regan will present the second of a two-part comedy series on RTÉ Radio 1 called Colm O’Regan Wants a Word (In Public!).
The first of the two programmes aired on the May Bank Holiday Monday, the second will air this Bank Holiday Monday 6 June at 1.30pm.
The shows will give listeners a glimpse into the Cork comedian’s way-of-thinking, focusing on one of Ireland’s most diverse and entertaining elements: our use of language.
“Irish people have a funny way of talking,” says Colm, “and I’ve always been fascinated with words. I love the sounds of them, am intrigued by their meanings, and constantly mesmerised by the accents we say them with!”
Colm O’Regan Wants a Word, which has been recorded in front of a studio audience, will feature live sketches from comedic actors Paul Tylack and Tara Flynn, and dig up some linguistic gold from deep down in RTÉ’s sound vaults. Plus interview the audience as they arrive!
Colm O’Regan Wants a Word was staged live at the Project Arts Centre as part of Comedy Showhouse – a project produced in association with Grintage Ireland and funded by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.
Future shows include panel series Don’t Quote Me! hosted by Sean Hughes with Al Porter, Karl Spain, Fiona Looney and Andrew Maxwell plus radio half hours featuring The Nualas, Deirdre O’Kane, Amy Huberman, Paddy Cullivan, Aindrias De Staic, Gearóid Farrellyand Foil Arms & Hog.
Colm O’Regan Wants a Word (Part 2) will air this Bank Holiday Monday, 6th June, at 1.30pm on RTÉ Radio 1.
The half hour show was produced by Sideline Productions in association with grintageireland.com for the BAI and Exec Producer Ann Marie Power of RTE Radio Comedy & Entertainment.
