FINAL PROGRAMME confirmed for Comedy Showhouse …

Fred Cooke, John Colleary, Tara Flynn, Amy Huberman, Al Porter  and The Nualas are amongst the new names added to RTE Radio’s 1st ever radio comedy festival. 

 RTE Radio 1’s COMEDY SHOWHOUSE is being staged at the Project Arts Centre in Dublin from Sunday January 31st to Sunday February 7th. In its debut year the line up over the 8 days of home-grown comedy talent now boasts one of the finest cast of comedy writers, producers and performers ever assembled in Ireland.

Produced by Sideline Productions in association with the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and www.grintageireland.com, the final programme has just got bigger and better.

The 8 days of live comedy kick off with …

  • SUNDAY Jan 31st SHE’s HAVING A LAUGH – two shows celebrating the best of Irish female comedy past and present
  • 4pm – award winning DEIRDRE O’KANE hosts this ‘loose women’ show with actress AMY HUBERMAN, writer / broadcaster FIONA LOONEY and Ireland’s No.1 comedy film producer REBECCA O’FLANAGAN

  • MONDAY Feb 1st 8pm –  Don’t Me Quote Me – the hit comedy panel show with host Sean Hughes (star of BBC’s Never Mind The Buzzcocks) plus high flying comedians Karl Spain & Andrew Maxwell plus writer / broadcaster Fiona Looney & special guests inc. AL PORTER (direct after a week of shows in London)

  • 8pm – the unique FRED COOKE – star of Tommy Tiernan live tour & RTE TV’s Xmas special – hosts the final night with fast rising stand up GEAROID FARRELLY; comedy actress and Oscar-nominated writer KATHLEEN O’ROURKE & comedy musical genius AINDRIAS de STAIC.

NOTE – More events for Thurs to Saturday Feb 4th to 6th respectively will be added for the smaller theatre The Cube downstairs – including sessions on You Tube ComedyWhat Irish Comedy Commissioners Are Looking ForProducing Irish Comedy Films for the World and a Tips of the Trade introductory workshop for new Irish screen comedy writers and directors.

All of these shows will be FREE, start at 7.30pm, limited to 70 people and announced on Friday Jan 22nd.

All the shows will be recorded for future transmission on RTE Radio 1 and full details of all broadcast dates will be available at rte.ie/comedyshowhouse.
